The Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) and the Boeing Commercial Airplane Corporation are two important collaborations from the SOFC Smart State Partnership.
Savannah River National Laboratory The collaboration with SRNL has produced excellent results strengthening both USC and SRNL in the essential area of energy. It has created several new horizons for young people who are developing new capabilities and programs.
Boeing CorporationThe SOFC Group has played a pivotal role in the creation of a new SmartState Center with Boeing, in the establishment of a working relationship with Boeing, and in the development of an educational program in aerospace materials.
The SOFC Center is a state-of-the-art research laboratory with an associated group of faculty, students, and professionals who have demonstrated excellence in solid oxide fuel cell science and technology. Our current objectives include:
Adding to the foundation of science and technology that enables the State of South Carolina to continue playing a leadership role in the nation and world in fuel cell research and development.
Contributing to the teaching mission of the University by providing research projects for graduate and undergraduate students in engineering, business, and chemistry and provide multidisciplinary education and training for personnel for new businesses for the fuel cell economy.
Forming relationships with in-State organizations, including Clemson University, Savannah River National Laboratory, and various industries in the state as appropriate to enhance development of related technology.
Establishing relationships with organizations in the United States and abroad for the purpose of advancing SOFC (and related) science and technology.
